I have spam!

Great news!  I logged into WordPress to write a blog post today and saw a little present in my overview widget: 2 spam posts!

Well, um, I kind of deleted them the moment I saw them… but this is seriously great news!  It means my blog actually has some modicum of visibility.  A blogspam bot was crawling the interwebs, found a link to my blog, thought to itself “I bet one of the readers of this blog will be dumb enough to click my links”, and posted here. It’s almost like I have readers!

Of course, Akismet immediately moved the comment to the spam queue because, surprise surprise, sites like sgheioghseiogheiojiote dot com don’t exactly look legit.  Especially when the rest of the comment is stuff like “aiegheio gioghiohwawipwotpp0035353589hgge.”

I wish I kept those spam comments as mementos.  It was a validating experience to see that automated blog spamming programs actually saw my blog as a legitimate venue for spam.  Sigh…

…come back? Please?

I was just browsing through the site, just curious to look back and see which of the dozens of posts I started writing for the site actually got past the drafting stage and put online. I was also busy laughing at my own jokes… never a good sign.

Anyways, because I wasn’t logged in, I saw this:

Evidently, WordPress hasn’t pinned down my purpose in life quite yet.

I guess I should give them credit, though. I mean, I guess I’m hard to pin with my liberal use of a wide variety of words such as “Linux,” “Windows,” “device,” “coding,” “programming,” “video games,” and “DS.”

Wow, it’s like every time I come to write a post for this blog, I cook up a three full servings of snark.

Oh! Oh! Here’s a fun game! Can you guess what any of those three advertisements are for?
I can’t!

Slight appearance issues

Just had to reupload my header and background images. It seems that not everything saves very well in WordPress land. (or, more specifically, WordPress.com land).

If all you’re seeing is a lackluster black background, then something ain’t right. For reference, here’s a screenshot of what you could be looking at if WordPress was nice:

My current theme, with a background that I labored on for 4 hours between Microsoft Paint and The GIMP.

New Title, New Address, New Look, New Name

You may have noticed that things are a bit different here.  Nah, who am I kidding, this is your first visit, and probably also your last.

Anyways, I’m no longer at exphpkun.wordpress.com.  I’m also no longer Exp HP.

New site, same great salty taste

I guess it finally occurred to Microsoft that Live Spaces, well, sucks. They’re currently in the process of moving all of us healthy, prospectful human beings off of Lives Spaces so that… well, I guess so they are free to brutally murder the humble little service.  I don’t know, I usually try to stay out of these things.

In related news, oh, hey, look, I switched to WordPress!

Well, I more or less moved to WordPress. Or, I was taken to WordPress. WordPress.com, at that.  But hey, WordPress.com is a lot better than I thought it would be.  It’s not quite as awesome as going to WordPress.org and installing WordPress on a privately-owned web server, but for somebody like me – who does not have a privately-owned web server – this will do very nicely.

And I’m also exphpkun now, because just like on YouTube, somebody took the name exphp and did nothing with it.  I can almost picture in my head exactly what happened.  Some guy was wandering around thinking, hmmm, I need a blog.  What’s a really good thing some people use for blogs… oh, I know, WordPress! So he goes to WordPress.com, registers under the name exphp, and he’s dropped onto the front page, where none of the typical areas of the page have a place to log in.  I’m sure he looked around for a place to log in, but he couldn’t find it.  I mean, sure, the website sticks this somewhat obtrusive bar at the top of the screen where you can log in, but this sort of bar is usually just for navigation.  Once he realized he was never going to find a place to log in, he left like any sane and easily-bored human being would do.

How dare he.

Anyways, you can expect this blog to be much like before:  Inactive.

Huh.  Maybe I’m stealing good domain names, too.
